THE LAKE & STARS | blog

a simple way to keep track of how a couple of lingerie designers work it out.
We’re very pleased to share our new collection for A/W ‘12 with all of you… As many of you know, we’ve had a difficult time this last little bit with mobility, so it’s a great accomplishment for us to have completed a collection.. we hope you nerds appreciate the references!
You can see the entirety of it right HERE on Style.com..
And below is a bit (formal) about what we were thinking about this season:
“
For Autumn/Winter 2012, we took inspiration from female leads in Japanese films such as the satire thriller Hausu (1970) and futuristic Battle Royale (2000), and juxtaposed their heroine with more masculine figures from contemporary videogames such as Battlefield 3 and Metal Gear Solid. Our tough/cheeky female always taking the lead, we looked to current social events and found strength this season in our Japanese avatars leading a Youth Revolution.
Key lingerie pieces include soft bustiers and bodysuits in perforated Op Art microfiber and floral jacquard to bridge the gap between anime halftone and traditional Eastern brocade. Delicate Chantilly laces on powermesh mirror the depiction of ultra feminine characters in Japanese film who transform into ultimate warriors.  Scarlet, caramel, and teal rest against textures in black, borrowed from the palette of these films and games.
Combined in soft silhouettes without corseting, the collection offers a relaxed take on a harder, more combative approach to femininity.
New RTW pieces include translucent tailored blouses meant to be layered with the lingerie styles, silk crepe dresses that mimic slashed bodices of seasons’ past, and the perfect Power pencil skirt in stretch wool to wear all season. Taking cues from their customers who wear The Lake & Stars styles outside the bedroom, we wanted to offer items to layer, for the girl who doesn’t always read the word “top” in “bra-top”.
